1862 "Streets" Sale by Captain Matthew Liddon

On August 12 th 1862 Captain Matthew Liddon, Lord of the Manor, sold by auction “ a pleasantly situated and roomy freehold dwelling house, formerly called “Streets Tenement, with an excellent large garden and orchard, situated opposite Lower Sea Lane”. The position of this dwelling house suggests that it may be the property, which is now Charmouth Lodge (formerly the “Limes”. There was more than one house in former days and traces of a probable early archway or entrance became visible in 1954 when the wall was replastered.
