The Building, formerly in the Garden of 12a St. Margarets Street. The earlier building was a storey higher as can be seen from the Aerial Photographs below. It may well be built c. 1690 with the other buildings in Nowhere Lane with a garden bordering St. Margarets Street. The present early 19th Century Shop probaly fillied the gap between neighouring buildings.
The building shown above at the end of Nowhere Lane was originally a storey higher as is shown in the photographs above. In the mid 19th Century, a Bridget Hayward Davis was living there and her will of 1857 is very interesting and details a number of the people living around her, including James and Hannah Duck who were running the Bakers fronting St. Margarets Street.In 1914 the oriinal building was reduced in size the pans are in the Wiltshire Record office.
