In
the Name of God Amen, I John Marshman of Bradford in the County of Wilts,
Taylor being of sound and disposing Mind, Memory and Understanding, Do
make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (That is to
say) First, I will and Direct that all my just Debts, Funeral Expenses and
the Charges of proving this my Will shall be fully paid off and discharged and
then, I give devise, and bequeath unto my kinsman James Taylor of Bradford
aforesaid Yeoman (who now live with me) All that my Messuage, tenement or dwelling
house with the Appurtenances thereto adjoining and belonging situate standing
and being in a place called No Where Lane on Morgan Hill in Bradford aforesaid
now in the Tenure of Simms, Shearman To hold to him my said Kinsman James Taylor,
his Executors, Administrators, and Assigns for and during all my Estate Term and
Interest therein. And I also Give and bequeath unto my said Kinsman James
Taylor, the sum of £100 of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to
be paid to him , the said James Taylor by my Executor hereinafter mentioned. And
I also Give and Bequeath unto my said Kinsman James Taylor my Watch and all my
wearing Apparel, both Linen and Woollen and of every kind and Sort. And I give
unto Arabella Selfe, Wife of William Selfe of Bradford in the County of
Wilts aforesaid Hair Dresser and Peruke Maker the Sum of £100 of
good and lawful money of Great Britain. And I give unto my Kinsman John
Taylor of the Parish of Melksham in the County of Wilts, the sum of £20. And
I give unto my Kinsman Mary Keene (late Mary Burroughs) of the parish of
Melksham in the County of Wilts aforesaid the sum of £5. And I
give unto my Cousin Sarah Norris of the parish of Melksham aforesaid (Widow)
the sum of £5. And I give unto my Servant Theodosia Gardiner
(in case he shall be living with me at the time of my deceased) the sum of
£5. And I give unto Edward Ember of Bradford in the County of
Wilts, aforesaid (who works with me) the sum of £5 And I give unto
my good Friends James Marshman of Shaw, in the parish of Melksham in the
County of Wilts aforesaid (Malster) and Isaac Crouch of Bradford
in the County of Wilts aforesaid (Gardener) the sum of £5 each
as a small Token of my Acknowledgments for the trouble they may be at in the
Execution of the Trust herein after in them reposed. And I give and bequeath
unto the said James Marshman and Isaac Crouch the sum of £100
of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto them by my Executor hereinafter
named. Upon Trust never less that they the said James Marshman and Isaac Crouch
and the Survivor of them and the Executors and Administrators of each Survivor
do and shall (as soon as they shall have received the said Sum of £100)
place the same out at Interest on Government or some other public funds or securities
or other real Security or Securities as they in their Discretion shall thinks
proper and pay the Interest and Dividends there of from time to time as the same
shall be received for and towards the Maintenance Education and breeding up of
John Pittman, Jane Pittman, Mary Pitman & Esther Pittman (son & daughter
of William Pittman and the late Esther Pitman of Bradford in the County of Wilts,Schoolmaster.
Aforesaid Pittman, Jane Pittman, Mary Pittman and Esther Pittman shall have attained
the Age of 21 years. `Then upon trust to pay and divide the said Sum of £100
and unto and equally between them ) during their respective Minorities in such
Proportions and Shares as they my said Trustees in their Discretion shall think
if it. And as soon as the youngest of them the said John Pittman, Jane Pittman,
Mary Pitman & Esther Pittman share and share alike ( and in case any or either
of them shall happen to die before, he, she, or they shall attain his her or their
respective age or ages of 21 years
And
I give Devise and bequeath all that my freehold Estate consisting of 3 Houses,
messuages or tenements with all the Garden, Grounds and Appurtenances thereto
belonging (and which I lately purchased of Noah Alloway, Maltster) situate
and being near his Malthouse and Dwelling House in Bradford in the County
of Wilts, aforesaid, unto my Son in Law John Baversrtock of Bradford aforesaid,
Joiner & Cabinet Maker and to his Heirs and assigns for ever. And
as to all the rest and residue of my goods of my Goods, Chattels, Monies, securities
for Money, Debts, Effects and Estate whatsoever and whosesoever not herein before
otherwise disposed of . I give and bequeath the same and every part and parcel
thereof unto and to theUse of the aforesaid John Baverstock his executors, Administrators
and Assigns as his and their own proper Goods, Chattels , Monies and Estates for
ever, He the said John Beverstock paying thereto £10 unto my Kinsman
Robert Taylor of the Parish of Holt in the County of Wilts (Blacksmith)
at the rate of 4 shillings per week, and if the said Robert Taylor should die
before the whole £10 are paid then my Will is that my said Executor should
give the remainder of the said £10 to his wife or children then living.
And I do constitute and appoint him the saod John Beverstock sole Executor
of this my Will. And lastly I do hereby revoke all former Wilts by me hereto
fore made and declare this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I
the said John Marshman Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set
my Hand and seal in ton the 3rd December 1784. Witnesses N. Phene, Ely
Edmunds, Thomas Stratten . At Winkfield in the County of Wilts, This
