Esq. being by … of sound mind memory and understanding but considering the.. uncertainty of life and of all things do below do by Grace make this my Last will and Testament in manner following In the first Place Recommend my soul into the hands of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who I trust has loved me and given in himself for me and my body I commit to the Earth to be .. interred(but without pomp) in the burying ground railed in by my dear Father's walled Grave where his remains are deposited in Bradford Church Yard and as to the Worldly Estate which with it has pleased God to bless me. I think proper to dispose of this and in the following manner I give and devise unto my good friends Richard Atwood of Turleigh in the Parish of Bradford, Esq. and Joseph Smith of Bradford aforesaid Gentleman and their heirs all that my messuage or mansion House wherein I now Dwell situate and being in St. Margaret's Street in Bradford aforesaid together with the offices, Garden, Paddock, Stable, Chaise House and appurtenances hereunto belonging and near adjoining. Also all that Messuage or tenement near adjoining to the said Mansion House in St. Margaret's Street aforesaid with New Workshop and other Appurtenances thereunto belonging now in the Occupation and Renting of Benjamin Richardson, Cloth worker. Also all that Messuage or Tenement Situate at the Bottom of a place called "Nowhere Lane" in Bradford aforesaid with the New Building adjoining and Appurtenances belonging now in the occupation and renting of Richard Sheppard and also those several Quit or reserved Rents issuing and payable out of the divers tenements and buildings situate and being in St. Margaret's Hill in Bradford aforesaid. Also all those scattered or dispersed Lands commonly called Beggars Bush , Little Field and Tyning, Prentite(?) Land, Baily's Barn, figure(?) Winter Leaze and Raynard in Bradford and in adjoining Parishes and now in occupation of Thomas Harding, James Biggs and Farmer Crook(?) and some of those in my own occupation Also all those three tenements with the two closes of Pasture grounds there to belonging with Right of Common appertaining situate and being in Bradford Leigh in the Parish of Bradford aforesaid and now in the occupation of Edward Prare(?) and all those two closes of Pasture Land situate and being at Camberwell in the said Parish of Bradford and now in the occupation of Posthumous Bush and also all that my estate and farm called Midway Farm together with the farm house and Mansion House adjoining Offices, Barns ,Stables, Outhouses, Buildings, Gardens, Orchards, Closes, Lands,.. and parcels of land, herediaments and appurtenances there to belonging and appertaining, situate and being in the Several Parishes of Bradford and Wingfield and Westwood in the said County of Wilts and of Hungerford Farleigh in the County of Somerset and now in the occupation of John Coles Baily as Tenant of the said farm and premises and all ways, waters, watercourses, paths, passages, easements, profits, commodities, herediaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Mansion House, Messuages or tenements, dispersed Lands, closes of Ground, Farm, Farmhouse and Mansion House, adjoining Closes, Lands and Premises belonging or in any way appertaining . To hold the said Mansion House at Bradford, Messuages or Tenements, dispersed Lands, Closes of Ground, Farm at Midway , Farm House and Mansion House adjoining Closes , lands and premises belonging or in any way appertaining to hold the said Mansion House at Bradford, messuages or tenements , dispersed Lands, closes of Ground, Farm at Midway, Farm House and Mansion House adjoining Closes, Lands, Hereditaments and premises situate and being in the said Several parishes of Bradford, Wingfield and Westwood in the County of Wiltshire and Hugerford Farleigh in the county of Somerset aforesaid with their and every of their rights … and appurtenances together with the said quit or reserved rents unto the said Richard Attwood and Joseph Smith and their Heirs to the several messuages the several trusts and to and for the several Intents and purposes and subject to the provisos herein after particularly in… limited expressed and declared of and concerning the same of that is to say as for and containing my said Mansion House wherein I now dwell at Bradford together with the Offices, Garden, Paddock, Stable and Chaise House with the Appurtenances to the Sole and proper use and both of my dear and beloved wife Lydia and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and as for and concerning all other my said Messuages or Tenements, Dispersed Lands, Closes of Ground , Herediaments and Premises in the Town and within the parish of Bradford aforesaid except the several Messuages or tenements and appurtenances given to my daughter Elizabeth Warren as after mentioned and also all that my Estate and farm called Midway farm with the farm House and Mansion House adjoining Offices, Barns, Stables, Outhouses, Buildings, Gardens, Orchards, Closes, Lands, .. and Parcels of Land, herediaments and Premises with their appurtenances situate and being in the Several Parishes of Bradford, Wingfield, Westwood and Hungerford Farleigh aforesaid. And Also the before mentioned quit or reserved Rents from and immediately after my Decease together with my said Mansion House in Bradford aforesaid and the offices, Garden, Paddock, Stables, Chaise House and Appurtenances belonging from and immediately after the Decease of my said Dear Wife to the use of my said son Henry Shrapnel, Captain in the Royal Artillery and his assigns for and during the term of his Natural Life and from and after the Determination of that Estate by forfeiture or otherwise in the Life Time of the said Henry Shrapnel to the use of the said Richard Attwood and Joseph Smith and their Heirs during the natural life of the said Henry Shrapnel upon trust to preserve the Contingent now and remainder herein after limited from being defeated or destroyed and for that purpose to make Entire and bring Actions as occasion shall require never the less to permit and suffer the said Henry Shrapnel and his assigns to Reserve and take the Rents, Issues and Profits there of to his and their own use and benefit during the Natural Life of the said Henry Shrapnel as aforesaid and from and after the decease of my said son Henry Shrapnel to the use of the first and all other the sons of the Body of the said Henry Shrapnel Lawfully to begotten severally successively and in remainder and after all other as they and every of .. shall be in priority of birth and priority of age and of their several heirs made of the body and bodies of all and every such son and sons lawfully issuing the elder of such sons and their heirs made of his body lawfully issuing being always preferred and to take place before the younger of the same sons and the heirs made of his and their body and bodies lawfully begotten and in default of such issue make then to the use and .. of all and every the Daughter (if no more than one) of the Body of my said son Henry Shrapnel lawfully to begotten to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike and to take as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and of the several and respective lives of the body and bodies of all and every such daughters lawfully issuing and in case there shall happen to be but one such daughter .. to the use of such only daughter and their heirs of her body lawfully issuing and in default of all such issue .. to the use of my daughter Elizabeth Warren and her assigns for and during the term of her Natural Life with like power to my said trustees for preserving contingent remainder aforesaid and from and after her decease to the use of the first and all and every other the son and sons of the Body of the said Elizabeth Warren lawfully to be begotten severally successively and in remainder as they and every of them shall be in priority of birth and of the several heirs made of the body and bodies of all and every such son and sons lawfully issuing the elder of such sons and their heirs made of his body being always preferred and to take place before the younger of the same Sonsa of his … body and bodies lawfully issuing and in default with issue… daughters ( if more than … of the body of the said Elizabeth the war.. Lawfully to be begotten to be equally divided between them share and sharealike .. as tenants in … and not as joint tenants and of the several and .. heirs of the body of all and every such daughter and the heirs of her body lawafully and in default of all such … other daughter Rachel Biddulph and jher Assigns for and during her term of her natural Life with like power to my said trustees for preserving .. remainder of aforesaid anf from and after the decease of the said Rachel Biddulph to .. my Grandson Thomas Shrapnell Biddulph and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life and from and after his decease then to .. of his first an all and every other the son and sons of his body of the said Thomas Shrapnell Biddulph Lawfully to be begotten severally .. heirs .. of the body and bodies of all and every such son and sons lawfully in issuing the elder of such sons and their heirs .. of his body being always preferred to take place before the younger of the said sons and their heirs … Daughter( if more than one) of the body of my said Grandson Thomas Shrapnell Biddulph lawfully begotten

All and my said Messuage .. called Midway Farm with ye farm houses and Mansion House adjoining closes and Herediaments and premises situate and being in the said several parishes of Bradford Wingfield Westwood and in Hungerford Farleigh in the county of Wilts and Somerset( except the said Mansion House and its appurtenants in Bradford aforesaid with an annuity of .. yearly rent charge of £100 of lawful money of great Britain to be issuing out of the said herediatements and premises and to be paid unto the hands of my said trust Richard Attwood and Joseph Smith(?) or their survivors

In St Margarets Street, Morgan`s Hill and Nowhere Lane in Bradford aforesaid and now in the Occupation of Renting of the widow Baily, Issac Gibbs, Thomas Brown, Dr. Browne (Apothecary) James Mead, William Gerrish, Thomas Paul John Holbrook, Widow Dicks(?) and .. sevrerall Orchard to hold the said Messuages or tenements with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Richard Attwood and Joseph Smith and their heirs to the several .. But unto and purposes here in after particularly mentioned limited expressed and declared of and containing.. (that is to say) to the use of my said daughter Elizabeth Warren and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life with full power to my said trust for preserving contingent remainder from being defeated or destroyed and.. and after her death to the use of her heirs of her body lawfully issuing and for default of such issue then to the use of my said son Henry Shrapnel and his assigns for and during their term of his .. life with like power to my said trustees for preserving contingent remainders .. and after his death to the heirs of his body lawfully issuing and for default of such issue to the use of my daughter Rachel Biddulph and heirs……… and I give and bequeath to my dear wife all my household goods, plate, china, pictures and household linen with her rings, towels and paraphernalia to be .. at her own disposal to her… my son Henry Shrapnel such disposition as first in this entail of the said Mansion House where the household goods and furniture are and where the principle part thereof to remain while the said Mansion House shall be occupied by any of my family and I give my wife £100 money to be paid her as soon after my death as possible, also I bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth Warren the sum of £200 and to my said daughter Rachel Biddulph the sum of £100 to be paid in respectively 12 months after my death and I hereby ratify and confirm to my said daughter Elizabeth Waren and Rachel Biddulph and the trustees
