Freshford Sunday School in about 1938

Mrs May Smith -who used to be May Lintern -of Linden Crescent, Lower Westwood, Bradford on Avon who sent it in to share with others. The photograph shows children at Freshford Sunday School in about 1938. Mrs Smith was born in the village living at Dunkirk Mill until she married. She says: "I still think of it as home and love to go back and take my grandchildren for walks around that way," says Mrs Smith. Teachers in the photograph include Mrs Watton and Miss Ward. Among the children Mrs Smith remembers are Jean, Maurice, Roy, Phillip and Betty Clift, John, Peter, Esme Knowles, Ronald and Peter Rudland, Eric and Margary Clift, Joyce Ward, Lily Jones, Pat Willis, Kathleen Sharp, Roy Self, John Guest, Brian Stone, Olive Yates, Jill Gane and Mervyn Holbrook. May Smith herself is the first girl seated on the left in the middle row.
